INSIDE OUR SPOTSWOOD WORKSHOP: NEW EQUIPMENT & CAPABILITIES

We've invested significantly in our Spotswood workshop over the past twelve months — new spray booth technology, updated colour-matching equipment, and expanded capacity. Here's a look at what's changed and what it means for riders bringing their bikes to us.

Our Spotswood workshop — purpose-built for motorcycle smash repairs and custom paintwork

Melbourne Motorcycle Fairings has operated from our Spotswood location for over two decades. In that time, the equipment has evolved continuously — but 2025 saw our most significant round of upgrades yet. The investment reflects both our growing workload and our commitment to being able to offer every paint system and repair technique to Melbourne riders, regardless of the make, model or complexity of the job.

WHAT'S NEW IN THE WORKSHOP

The headline upgrade is our new spray booth — a temperature and humidity-controlled environment that gives us consistent paint application conditions year-round. Paint performance is heavily affected by ambient conditions, particularly for metallic and pearl finishes. Having a controlled booth environment means we can maintain quality standards regardless of whether it's a 40-degree Melbourne summer day or a cold, wet July morning.

KEY UPGRADES IN 2025

  • icon

Climate-controlled spray booth — Temperature and humidity regulation ensures consistent paint application and curing conditions across all seasons

  • icon

Multi-angle spectrophotometer — New colour-reading equipment measures paint at five angles, giving us significantly improved accuracy for metallic, pearl and candy colour matching

  • icon

Nitrogen plastic welding system — Upgraded to nitrogen welding for all structural plastic repairs, producing stronger and cleaner welds than standard hot-air methods

  • icon

Expanded secure storage — Additional lockable bays mean we can hold more bikes at once without compromising turnaround times

"

The spectrophotometer upgrade has been the biggest game-changer for colour matching. We were already good at it — but now we can read a paint at five angles and get data that tells us exactly how the colour shifts. That's the difference between a match that looks right in the shade and one that looks right in every light.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR REPAIR

For riders, the practical benefit of these upgrades is a higher standard of colour matching and a more consistent finish quality. The controlled booth environment means we no longer have to schedule paint jobs around weather conditions — reducing delays for customers. The expanded storage means we can take in more bikes without creating a queue that affects turnaround times.

  • Improved colour match accuracy across metallic, pearl, candy and solid finishes
  • Faster turnaround — no weather delays affecting paint scheduling
  • Stronger structural plastic repairs with nitrogen welding technology
  • More capacity — we can hold your bike securely while parts are being sourced

VISITING THE WORKSHOP

Our Spotswood workshop is at 14/59 Hudsons Road — a large factory unit with easy access for trailers and motorcycle transport. We're open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Riders are welcome to bring their bike in for a no-obligation inspection and quote — we'll assess the damage, explain the repair options, and give you a clear picture of cost and timeline before any work is authorised.

Towing Available

If your motorcycle isn't rideable after an accident, we offer a towing service to bring it directly to the workshop. We coordinate with your insurer on the towing cost where applicable. Contact us on (03) 9399 3344 and we'll arrange collection — often same day or next morning depending on location.
